TORONTO FISHING SPOTS

Glen Haffy Conservation Area Fishing
Located on the east side of Airport Road a short distance south of Highway 9, Glen Haffy Conservation Area offers fishing for stocked rainbow trout in two ponds. An on-site fish hatchery supplies the fish, which are also used to stock a similar pond at the Heart Lake Conservation Area. Most are about 12 inches long and weigh about one pound, though larger fish are available.

The park-like setting offers a perfect environment for introducing children to angling. It is wheelchair accessible, and offers full facilities, including washrooms.

Lying within property owned by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Glen Haffy is subject to the Authority’s policy prohibiting all live bait except worms. Most trout are indeed caught on live worms or corn kernels, fished either on the bottom or beneath a float. Small spinners, spoons and crankbaits are also effective.

The site is open to fishing from mid-April till October, normally from 9 am till dark. There is abundant parking on-site, but the area is not accessible by public transit.

A fly fishing club (the Glen Haffy Fly Fishers Club) operates at the conservation area. Anglers who purchase a membership gain access to the private Headwaters trout ponds, open six days per week, which are stocked with larger fish up to about five pounds. Boat rentals are also available to members.
